Overview

Arthur DeFever designed several "Performance Offshore Cruiser" models of which the flush deck 53 POC proved the most popular.  This rugged semi-displacement DeFever cruising yacht  was designed to meet the market demand for higher speeds. The galley-up teak interior has the salon, pilothouse, and aft deck all on a single level.

  • 3208 Caterpillars - 2652 hrs. since major overhaul in 2003 (both engines were removed from boat for overhaul). At this time a new Onan 9 kw generator was installed and the Onan 15 kw had the engine rebuilt and now has approx. 1800 hrs.
  • Vetus 24v Bow and Stern Thrusters
  • Naiad Multisea II Stabilizers
  • Yacht exterior and all 3 heads were repainted in 2004 with Awlgrip
  • All windows were resealed in 2004
  • 2013 Rendova RIB w/40 hp Yamaha

2017 Service includes the following work:

  • 4 months in yard
  • Swim platform rebuilt
  • Bottom job
  • Main engine Hull screen strainers  installed and engine room strainers replaced
  • Complete running gear remove & replaced or repaired as      necessary  ( shafts, struts, cutlass  bearings, stuffing boxes, props serviced, and engine alignment)

  • Installed new Intellian I-4 Satellite system w/ 3 receivers

Engine Room and Electrical

Engine room is below salon and forward of the owners stateroom Access to the engine room is via the stairway from the main salon. Both Caterpillar 3208 375 hp. main engines were removed from the yacht in 2003 and rebuilt. At the same time a new Onan 9 kw generator was installed and the engine was rebuilt on the Onan 15 kw.

2017 Service (4 months in yard)

  • Complete overhaul of running gear (shafts, struts, cutlass bearings, shaft seals
  • Bent engine mount replaced and engine re-aligned
  • Replace 10' section of damaged keel (crack in keel was spotted earlier on purchase survey)
  • Install bronze and stainless screen strainers replacing internal strainers
  • Replaced six ball valves and all others serviced
  • Props re-worked and balanced
  • Replaced galley sink and fixture
  • Hour meters replaced (electrical connections repaired)
  • Installed Intellian I-4 Satellite system plus three receivers
